.Cilantro, Lime, Avocado Crema.

All great food needs good condiments... It's a fact... But, so many of the store bought options are either very expensive, or don't taste that "fresh". This year I decided to push myself to spend a little more time creating the condiments I typically buy at the store and bringing my own twist to it and a little less time just buying products for convenience.

Here is my recipe for "Cilantro, Avocado Crema"... It's a wonderfully creamy, green, cooling sauce that pairs well with spicy, fried or heavy food. Add it to whatever YOU like.

.Cilantro, Lime, Avocado Crema.


Serves 6.


  • 1 cup of trimmed and chopped cilantro

  • 2 avocados (remove the pit and skin)

  • 1 lime

Baking and Spices:

  • 2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil


  • 4 tablespoons of low-fat sour cream (or vegan sour cream)

In a food processor or blender add 1 cup of chopped cilantro, 2 avocados, 4 tablespoons of sour cream, 2 teaspoons of salt, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Blend for 30 seconds on high. Remove the lid of the blender and scrape the sides down to ensure all of the cilantro is blended. Next cut half of a lime and squeeze into the crema. Blend for another 30 seconds. When the sauce is smooth squeeze the remaining lime juice into the sauce. If you are ready to use right away, top the sauce with fresh cilantro, or leave as it is. Add to your favorite dish.

To keep the leftovers, pour the crema into a container with a tight lid or a squeeze bottle, and keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

*Don't be surprised if the top layer looks brown. Simply squeeze more lime or lemon juice on the sauce and mix well to brighten back to green.
